Book’em, a Nashville-based nonprofit dedicated to children’s literacy, is the 2025 Starfish Campaign award recipient by International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. (ISTS).
Book’em works to create a more literate Nashville by fostering a love of reading among children and increasing access to books. Through impactful programs like Books for Nashville’s Kids, Reading is Fundamental, Ready for Reading, Read Me Day and the Book Bus, the organization reaches thousands of local students with age-appropriate books and the support of enthusiastic volunteers.
Now in its 15th year, the Starfish Campaign is a yearly giving initiative that empowers employees to live out the company’s Core Value of “Help Others.” Team members nominate and vote on one or more charitable organizations to receive a monetary donation and hands-on volunteer support from ISTS.
This year’s campaign included a special book drive — “400 Books for 40 Years” — to support Book’em and celebrate ISTS’ 40th anniversary. Employees and partners around the country collected new and gently used books for donation to the Book’em library.
